Privacy Policy

Last updated August 2026.

This policy explains what information Cascade Roof & Gutter collects, why, and what happens to it. We have tried to write it in plain language rather than legal boilerplate.

The short version

We publish free guides about roof moss and gutters in Pierce County. If you contact us through the form on this site or call the number on it, we may pass your enquiry to a licensed local specialist so they can help you. We do not sell your information to data brokers or advertisers, and we do not send marketing emails you did not ask for.

What we collect

Information you give us. If you fill in the quote form, we collect what you type into it — your name, phone number and city, and optionally your email address, roughly how old your roof is, and whatever you tell us about the job. You choose what to include. The only fields we insist on are the ones a contractor needs in order to call you back.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, this one records basic technical data: the pages you visit, roughly how long you stay, the type of device and browser you are using, and the general geographic area your connection comes from. This is standard web analytics and it is not tied to your name.

What we do not collect. We do not ask for or store payment information, social security numbers, or anything similar. If a form on this site ever asks you for something like that, it is not ours.

Referrals to service providers

This is the part worth being direct about, because it is how the site is funded.

When you submit an enquiry, we may share the details you provided with one or more licensed local specialists so they can contact you about the work. We may receive a fee from those providers for the referral.

That arrangement does not cost you anything, and it does not change what we write. The guides on this site are built from the Pierce County Assessor’s records, NOAA rainfall normals, Washington statute and the roofing manufacturers’ own published guidance, and we publish what those sources actually say — including where that means telling you a job is not worth doing yet.

If you would rather we did not pass your details to anyone, say so in your message and we will not.

How we use what we collect

To respond to your enquiry. To connect you with a specialist, where that is what you are after. To understand which guides people find useful, so we can improve them. And to keep the site working properly and secure.

We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell it.

Phone calls

The phone number on this site is a tracked line. When you call it, the call is forwarded to a specialist, and we record that the call happened — the number you called from, the time, and how long it lasted — so we know which pages are actually helping people. Calls may be recorded by the company that answers them; if they are, you will be told at the start of the call. We do not record calls ourselves.

Analytics and cookies

This site uses basic analytics to count visits and see which pages get read. Those tools set cookies — small files your browser stores — and your browser will let you block or delete them if you would rather. Nothing on this site needs cookies in order to work, so blocking them will not break anything.

We do not run advertising trackers or retargeting pixels.

Links to other sites

We link out to county and state sources, manufacturers’ documentation and licence look-up tools, because you should be able to check what we have written. Once you follow one of those links you are on someone else’s site, under their privacy policy, not ours.

How long we keep things

Enquiries are kept for as long as they are useful for following up and for understanding what people ask about — and then they are deleted. Analytics data is aggregate and is not tied to you.

Your choices

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can ask us not to pass your details to a specialist. You can ask us to stop contacting you and we will. Use the address at the bottom of this page and we will deal with it.

Children

This site is meant for homeowners and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

A note on the guides themselves

Two things worth saying plainly, because they affect how you should read this site.

The figures we publish — roof counts, the share of homes with a moss-susceptible roof cover, rainfall and runoff — come from public records, chiefly the Pierce County Assessor-Treasurer’s parcel data and NOAA climate normals. Where we have calculated something ourselves, we show the arithmetic so you can check it.

Some photographs on this site are representative rather than pictures of specific properties, and are labelled as such. Nothing on this site is a survey of, or a claim about, any individual house.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top. We are not going to email you about it.
